London club Brentford have been backed by ex-Southampton player David Prutton who made his predictions on the latest set of matches in the English Championship including the Brentford v Cardiff City game.

According to him, Brentford will just edge Cardiff City at home. In his predictions on Sky Sports, Prutton backed the London team to beat their visitors 2-1 to boost their Premier League promotion bid. For Cardiff City, the result would end their faint hopes of clinching a playoff spot for a second successive season.

Ahead of the game on Tuesday evening, the two clubs are not on a good run. Welsh outfit Cardiff City are winless in their last four games since the 1-0 away win over Swansea City in the Welsh derby. The run of four games without a win includes draw in the last two matches.

The impressive win over Swansea City preceded the disappointing home loss to Nottingham Forest. The Bluebirds were beaten 1-0 at home by the former European champions.

Cardiff City then produced their worst display of the season at relegation threatened Sheffield Wednesday. They were hammered 5-0 by their hosts in what was easily their worst result this season. The Bluebirds have been able to recover from that comprehensive beating with two straight draws against Blackburn Rovers and Reading but the damage has been done as far as their bid for a playoff place is concerned.

For hosts Brentford, they have drawn five of their last six games in the league and that has derailed their bid for an automatic slot to the Premier League ahead of next season. A win over Cardiff City will go a long way to resurrect that bid for an automatic slot.
