Frazier Campbell set to leave Cardiff City for Leicester City

Frazier Campbell, the Cardiff City striker is set to leave Wales for a return to the England newly promoted Premier League club Leicester City.

Leicester City have reportedly tabled a bid of around £ 800,000 for the former Manchester United trainee and it also been accepted by the club, according to sources within the club.

Campbell, who hails from Yorkshire, was one of the standout performers for the Bluebirds last season as they suffered relegation in their first season back to the top flight for decades and is scheduled to hold a meeting with Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson over the move this week.

This meeting will happen before the move is all cleared and Leicester City hopes the personal terms can be agreed with the player by that time.

Cardiff’s manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would ideally prefer to keep the former Sunderland loanee at the club but he has a release clause in his contract which has been triggered by the Foxes meaning the 26 year old will return to the Premier League once again.

Campbell scored several important goals for Cardiff City last season, including against Manchester United and Manchester City and alongside Jordan Mutch, Steven Caulker and goalkeeper David Marshall, were one of the few players who enhanced their reputation in what was a very poor season for the club.

Leicester City officials have been engaged in transfer talks with the player’s agent for quite some time and it is expected the move will be announced before the month is out.

Cardiff City have already completed five new signings as they look to bounce back immediately and return to the top flight but losing Campbell will come as a big blow for the Welsh club as they look to emulate the success they managed under former manager Malky Mackay.
