Danny Ward discloses that Neil Warnock was the reason why he preferred Cardiff

Danny Ward discloses that Neil Warnock was the reason why he preferred Cardiff over Ipswich.

As per Ward, his experience of playing under Warnock was fantastic when he was given the charge of Rotherham on an interim basis in 2016. The 69-year old had done some wonderful work coming in at a difficult time and had managed to avoid Rotherham’s relegation from the second tier which was looking certain at one point of time. And not only him, but, his associates as well, they were mighty impressive as a coaching staff.

Also when he talked to some of the players in the Cardiff City squad whom he knows personally and is close to, they all gave him positive feedback about Warnock and none of them told him anything which would have created any sort of doubt in his mind.

Ward admits that Cardiff is situated far away from where he belongs to, but, he insists that it’s not that he doesn’t have any connections over there. He has got a few mates in that City and a few mates even in the Bluebirds’ squad and secondly, it’s the chance of working with the coach he rates so highly which really helped him come to his decision.

WARNOCK SETS SIGHTS ON PLAYOFFS NEXT SEASON

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has said that reaching the Championship play-offs next term would be a big reach with their current budget.

They are currently 17 points off the playoff spot this year as they are 12th on the log.

The Bluebirds struggled when the season went underway but under Warnock’s leadership, they have steadily risen through the log. They played a goalless draw with Wigan Athletic recently but they have been consistent overall.

“We need a few more goals, we need a few more options off the bench. It’s going to be a massive achievement for everybody at the club if we can get up there near the playoffs next season with the budget we’ve got and the amount we’re going to spend,” he coach told the BBC.

Warnock not afraid of sacking

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has stated that he is not scared of being sacked by the club as he is sure of getting another job.

He believes that there is a shortage of good managers in the game at the moment and that will give him a lot of opportunities.

Warnock said that he has plenty of experience in the Championship and this should allow him to coach any other club. For this reason, he is not afraid of losing his job if ever the Cardiff City board decided to sack him.

Cardiff City is currently 13th in the Championship and are currently on a good run of form. Many pundits were tipping Cardiff City to make a serious push for promotion this season, but they were let down by a poor start to the season.
