Cardiff City have been one of the impressive teams in the Championship this season, and it is not surprising to see them lead the table by a massive 10 points. Not satisfied with the quality within the team, the manager recruited players like the Sunderland striker Fraizer Campbell during the January transfer window. The former Manchester United man made a match-winning debut for the team in the recent match against Leeds United. Campbell scored after just 2 min after being introduced as a substitute in the match. The 1-0 victory helped Cardiff open a 10 point advantage at the top of the table.
After the match, the manager Malky Mackay has praised the striker by saying that he has quickly embedded himself into the work ethic of the team. Due to the fact that he is intelligent, he will be able to score goals on a consistent basis. Mackay has said that Campbell has not played a lot of football recently, and he will improve as he gets regular game time at Cardiff. The 1-0 victory over Leeds was the fifth successive win that the team had achieved in the league. This has helped them restore the 10 point advantage over Leicester City. Cardiff have not dropped more than two points in the last seven matches.
“I am delighted for Fraizer. He is very humble and has rapidly bought into our team ethic. He is a willing runner and an intelligent footballer who knows where the goal is. He has not played a lot of football lately so the mind was willing and the flesh was weak, but he will soon be up to speed. We needed to get him match minutes, but at the same time we need to protect him [having] not played too much football recently,” said Mackay.
