CARDIFF CITY MANAGER NOT CERTAIN OF FUTURE

Cardiff City football club manager, Russell Slade, is unsure of his future as his side missed out on the Championship play-offs.

The Bluebirds lost by three nil at Sheffield Wednesday this past weekend leaving them seven points adrift of the top six with one game left in the season.

The current contract of the coach is due to lapse at the end of this campaign but when asked if he expects to be in charge next season, Slade told BBC Sport:

“We’ll see. At the end of the day, it will be the owners’ decision.”

The coach may have overseen an unlikely Championship play-off this season but the truth is Slade has not been accepted by some Cardiff fans. Gary Hooper scored two goals as Sheffield Wednesday sealed their play-off place at their expense. The former Leyton Orient boss said:

“We’ve made progress. It’s my job, the team’s job and the staff’s job now to see if we can take that even further.

“We’ve made progress under difficult circumstances at times. We are going the right way.

“We had a bad day at the office today. We have to get over that. They always happen in football – it’s how you respond and react.

“I still believed we could get in that top six today and take it to the last game. Anything could’ve happened, but it’s not to be.”

He also added that their poor away record affected them this season but hopes they win their last game. He said:

Bury does not fear anyone according to Boss

Bury’s manager, David Flitcroft has stated that they do not fear anyone despite their current poor run. Bury will be away to league leaders Burton during the weekend, and the manager feels that they have turned a corner.

Bury has only managed to collect 4 points away from home from a possible 39 points and will be facing in Burton, a team that has conceded only two defeat at home. Flitcroft does not want to let himself overwhelm with statistics and believe that his side is much better one despite what the table shows.

The manager has stated that he has a plan for the match against Burton, and he wants his players to follow it if they want to come back with a result. He will want a repeat of the performance against Blackpool where Bury managed to get out with a draw.

David Flitcroft will want his players to give everything in the final games of the season and would want them to stay focus on the game plan.

The manager believes that there are not a great deal that separates the teams at the top of the league from the rest. The only difference is that the top teams has a better finishing and score more goals.

For the game against Burton, Flitcroft will have Craig Jones and Kelvin Etuhu back in the team. Jones was on a good run of form before suffering from a concussion at Blackpool while Etuhu will be back after two months.

Cardiff City is making a big clear-out of forwards

A few days ago it was announced that Kenwyne Jones had left Cardiff City as he joined Al-Jazira on a deal which lasts until the end of the current season but much more players of the English club are expected to be on their way out of the club after failing to impress.

Federico Machedaand Alex Revell are the players who are rumored to be offloaded from Cardiff City as they do not play a very important role in the team and the club is prepared to sell them in order to make way for new players.

Macheda is a product from the youth system of Manchester United and he joined Cardiff City on a free transfer back in May of 2014 but he has struggled making an impact in the team with injuries that have kept him in the sidelines unable to play with the rest of his teammates and even when he is fit, his goal-scoring ratio isn’t very impressive with a total of 8 goals in 28 appearances for Cardiff City and it’s believed that the club has lost their patience with the young attacker.

The goal-scoring output of Alex Revell has been even more disappointing as the 32 year old English attacker has only been able to find the back of the net on 2 occasions in 28 appearances which are even lower than his teammate FederichoMacheda.

Russell Slade is not interested in selling his top players

Cardiff City concluded their latest Championship League season by finishing at the 11th spot but Russell Slade wants to get into the Premier League and in order to do that, Slade believes that keeping hold of his best players is one of the best things he can do.

Peter Whittingham and Joe Mason have received interest from the Championship League club Wolverhampton meanwhile the 30 year old Scottish goal-keeper David Marshall is another player who was been recently linked with a possible move to Liverpool.

Despite the potential injection of cash that Russell Slade and Cardiff City could receive from selling their players, Slade stated that he will try a and keep hold of his top talents.

Cardiff City managed a third win in the last five matches

Cardiff City managed a third win in the last five matches after a 2-0 success over Birmingham City during the weekend.

The victory helped Cardiff move to 14th in the table. It makes them no closer towards the play-off places, as Ipswich Town occupying the final play-off spot are still 16 points ahead of them with one less match remaining in the season. Despite this, manager Russell Slade was happy with the performance of his players after the match. Owen Doyle opened the scoring after 15 minutes while Peter Whittingham scored from the penalty spot after 76 minutes.

Assistant manager Scott Young also reflected on this victory by saying that it was pleasing to get a clean sheet. Cardiff have not enjoyed a great defensive record in the league this season. Their last clean sheet came almost a month ago in the 1-0 victory over Wigan. Comments to such a situation have been flying in from the fans, but Slade will be able to prepare with confidence for the next match against Reading. The relegation threatened outfit still have everything to play for in the remainder of the campaign unlike Cardiff, who may allow their concentration to drift. There are seven matches left in the season.
