The Cardiff city manager Malky Mackay has said that he is extremely surprised about the defensive order within his side. Cardiff managed to frustrate Brighton in a recent match between the two clubs. The match finished as a 0-0 draw, which did not help the cause for Brighton. Brighton and Hove Albion were looking to get into the promotion spot, but they have just one victory in the three matches. After the match, the Cardiff manager Malky Mackay said that the point taken from the game was a tribute to the defensive organisation of his team. This was the second consecutive clean sheet of the season for the bluebirds.

As a result of this point, Cardiff stay within the play-offs position in the Championship table. Malky Mackay accepted the fact that Brighton had the better of the chances. However, he has said that his side were extremely organised in such a way that they were able to limit the number of chances created by the opposition. Brighton had only five shots on target. As a result of this excellent start to the season, Cardiff have a great opportunity to build on the success achieved in the last few seasons.

“We have kept back-to-back clean sheets and we are certainly happy with that. Brighton are a quality team but we restricted them to five shots on target. We missed two chances from three yards – Heidar Helguson and Etien Velikonja both going close to scoring – but we kept the ball really well and that part of our game got better and better. It was an entertaining match and a draw was probably a fair result,” said Malky Mackay after the match. Cardiff need to maintain the defensive form because they will be facing the likes of Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leeds united in the next few matches.
